CARB and NASRC are developing a program to accelerate the adoption of ultra-low-GWP technologies in California, specifically commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment containing less than 50 pounds of refrigerant.
Project Status
NASRC released a request for information (RFI) to commercial and industrial equipment manufacturers to inform the development of the program. The comment period closed in October 2025.
Information collected included details on available technologies, cost differences compared to high-GWP options, and market barriers across restaurants, food service, retail, and public institutions.
The program is expected to launch early to mid-2026, and information will be posted here. Subscribe to our mailing lists for updates.
